Kathryn Nowers

Principal

Kathryn is a respected political and public policy professional with more than 10 years of experience in strategic policy, regulatory affairs and issues management.

A thoughtful and strategic problem solver, Kathryn has a deep understanding of the inner workings of government. Before joining gt&co, she served as the Director of Policy for the Federal Minister of Health, including two years working at the core of Canada’s COVID-19 response. During her time in the Health Minister’s office, Kathryn provided executive-level advice to three successive Ministers to help drive forward transformational files including cannabis legalization, medical assistance in dying, and tobacco and vaping legislation. She was also the lead advisor on a broad range of regulatory and trade related files within the Health Portfolio, providing on the ground support to Ministers in negotiations at G7 meetings and at the World Health Assembly.

In addition to her political experience, Kathryn spent several years in the public service, including at Public Safety Canada where she worked on citizen engagement programs, strategic policy and planning, and international affairs.

Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University and a Master’s in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa. Most recently, Kathryn has been selected as an emerging leader to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s 2023 Commonwealth Study Conference.
